Here is a shy Red Star

The Red Stars and the Barred Plymouth Rocks are both very friendly.

Almost six weeks

We had to leave them for 5 days while we went to Disneyland. My Dad watched them for us. My Dad just retired and moved to Richfield so he took Bob and two others. Now we just have four. I finished staining the inside of the henhouse so the can move in tomorrow.

They are starting to look like chickens

It is going to be hard to pick just three or four to keep.

I wish they could stay inside.

I wish they could stay inside.

They are 4 weeks old

Four week old chickens. Note the feathers.

Brenda wasn't as mad as I thought she would be.

Brenda is a good sport about our hobby. I ended up mopping the kitchen to stay in her good graces.

Brenda recommends the book, Keep Chickens! by Barbara Kilarski. www.storey.com

Chicken run in the kitchen

We built the chicken run in the kitchen, then the chickens wanted to try it out.

Another Chicken visit indoors

A chicken on the kitchen counter? Mom wasn't pleased but she took the picture.

We found a centipede in the garage.

I wish I had a camera when we gave them a centipede that we found in the garage. They went crazy for it. It was fun to see them chase each other around the brooder. Posted by Picasa

Bob the Bantam

Bob is a Bantam. He came with the order as a free rare chick. We don't know exactly which type of Bantam he is but we guess that he is a he.

He is sitting next to the temperature sensor.
